The groups for the Women’s EHF Euro 2026 preliminary round are in! Here is everything you need to know, before kickoff in December.

The 24 nations have now been divided into six groups, consisting of four nations in each for the 2026 Women’s Euro in handball.
The different nations in each group will play each other once in the preliminary round.
When all the nations within each group have played each other, the two best from each group will advance to the main round.
That means that 12 will be eliminated and the other 12 stepping onto the next round.
These are the groups:
Group A: Hungary, Montenegro, Slovenia, Iceland
Group B: Norway, Romania, Switzerland, North Macedonia
Group C: Denmark, Spain, Türkiye, Greece
Group D: Netherlands, Czechia, Austria, Croatia
Group E: France, Poland, Faroe Islands, Ukraine
Group F: Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Serbia
The defending champions, Norway, will be playing against Romania, Switzerland, North Macedonia, while France will be playing against Poland in the preliminary round like they did in 2024.
Sweden and Serbia meet again, after having played each other in the Qualifiers and the 2024 runnerups, Denmark, is in Group C, with Spain, Türkiye and Greece.
The Women’s EHF Euro 2026 has five hosts - Poland, Romania, Czechia, Slovakia and Türkiye - making them the first European Handball Championship to have that.
The tournament will be taking place from the 3rd of December till the 20th of December 2026 in venues of the host countries.
