Donington Park provides fans with 4.02km of racing, with corners that promise overtakes. The format of British F4 means fans are given three races of action, each one providing different thrills and challenges than the others.

With it being the opening round of the season, it is all to play for. There has been no clear leader from testing, with different drivers topping the times, meaning who will come out on top remains a mystery. However, many returning drivers will have an edge over the new rookies with their experience they have gained from previous seasons helping them along the way.

Last year, Hitech remained strong throughout the season, coaxing Fionn McLaughlin not only to the rookie championship but to the overall championship and now supporting him into Formula 3, showing the opportunities Formula 4 can give to these young drivers.

For returning drivers to watch out for, many are looking towards Chris Dittmann Racing driver Tommy Harfield. Last year was his first full year in British F4, and after only planning to compete at the first eight races due to funding, he went on to secure a podium at the British Grand Prix round and his and CDR’s win at round nine. He showed pace and promise which he will be hoping to bring again this year.

Many rookies are making their first steps into single seaters this season and deserve to be watched. American twins, Roman and Cash Felber, have teamed up with Fortec Motorsport sto race. They both showed immense talent in karting and are now hoping to step it up a level and fight amongst the top in British F4.

This season also brings us two female drivers. We have Chiara Bätting with Hitech, and Daniella Sutton for CDR. Bätting is also backed by the Red Bull junior team, highlighting not only the increase of women support in motorsport but also the talent and promise she brings to the grid. Daniella Sutton is a British Racing Drivers Club backed driver, showing the promise and talent people see within her. But will either of these drivers come out on top?
