An amazing start for pole sitter James Egozi keeping a gap between himself and Eyckmans. An incredible opening move from Alex Powell as well who launched in front of the two Palou cars to take third. Not even a whole lap in, Luca Viisoreanu spun off track in the first sector with his front wing off in the gravel making him the first retirement for the race.

Going back to green flags saw Eyckmans slightly close in on Egozi into the first corner. Four laps in El Feghali started dropping down the order after a puncture and yellow flags being waved after he came to a halt at Turn 8 which ultimately triggered another safety car. One of the other retirements for this race was the GRS of Jakob Bergmeister after technical issues with the car.

With the race getting green flagged again, it was Heitor Dall’Agnol who made a move on Ean Eyckmans which made it a Palou Motorsport 1-2. Perard tried to go on the inside of Powell who got pushed into the gravel making it a second retirement this weekend for the American driver. The race was yellow flagged again with another safety car deployed. Palau Motorsports Rafaël Perard brought his car into the pit lane - a retirement for the Frenchman. Involved in a separate incident was the car of Kacper Sztuka which made him the sixth retirement of the race.

Green flags waved again at Portimão saw a good restart from Egozi and it saw Al Azhari take himself up to third. Heuzenroeder went three wide with Pradel and Strauven and managed to get past both of them. In the battle between Heuzenroeder and Pradel, the two Australian’s hit wheels meaning Heuzenroeder fell back into seventh after Stauven overtook him.

Another win from James Egozi making Portimão his Portuguese playground. A first podium for Heitor Dall’Agnol in the Palou Motorsports car and it was Keanu Al Azhari who took the final podium place.

Alex Garcia spoke with three time race winner Egozi after the race.

AG - “James Egozi, pole position, Race 2 win after yesterday, big championship lead. What a day!”

JE - “A really good day and also a 1-2 for the team, the second time we’ve done that this season so I’m super happy, it’s what we were looking forward too. We just need to carry this momentum forward but it’s been really positive and we’ll see what the rest of the season has in store.”
