Egozi Goes Two for Two at Monza

The American driver took his second race victory of the weekend at Monza.
Starting on pole for Race 2 was Christopher El Feghali who was joined on the front row by championship leader, Palau Motorsports James Egozi. Bustamante was given a third reprimand for starting her engine too early which resulted in a 10-place grid drop for the race start meaning she was starting from last on the grid. However, on the formation lap, Bustamente’s car had slowed on the way to the grid, leading to her being out before the race even started.
Green flags were waved and the back of the grid saw a couple of cars stall but managed to get going. An excellent start from El Feghali and a brilliant move from Al Azhari on Egozi, this led to Egozi going wide and dropping down the order into seventh. This allowed Heitor Dall’Agnol to make a move on Al Azhari for second place.
Egozi managed to make his way back up to fourth and his teammate Dall’Agnol managed to make his way into the race lead on Lap 2. Race control had noted a potential unsafe restart from the Palou Motorsport of James Egozi. Three wide into the first corner saw contact between Dall’Agnol and Perard and Perard’s suspension broke as he went off into the grass. Yellow flags were waved and the safety car was deployed, neutralising the grid.
This saw a top three of El Feghali, Al Azhari and Dall’Agnol however the restart saw contact between El Feghali and Dall’Agnol, after having a great start to the race, the Drivex car was off the road and lost 21 places. Yellow flags were shown for the opening sector for Juan Cota and Filippo Fiorentino who no longer had a front right wheel attached. A second safety car deployment of the race which neutralised the grid once more and a bit further down the Technicar of Andre Petrovic had also come to a halt.
On the restart, it was an excellent start for Al Azhari who managed to make his way into the race lead. With 8 minutes left to go, the cars of Bart Harrison, Alceu Feldmann and Nathan Tye had stopped on track. The race once again neutralised under safety car conditions.
The safety car came in with three minutes to go and three wide into Turn 1 went Al Azhari, Egozi and Dall’Agnol which led to Al Azhari losing two places to the Palou Motorsport cars. Lammers managed a move on Al Azhari for the final podium place and Egozi got ahead of his teammate for the race lead.
It was Egozi who was victorious at the chequered flag. In second was his Palou Motorsport teammate Heitor Dall’Agnol and rounding off the podium was his MP Motorsport’s René Lammers. However post-race Dall’Agnol was given a 10-second time penalty which had promoted Lammers up to second and Kacper Sztuka into the final podium place.
Following the race, some other penalties were given out by race control which included a 10-second time penalty for Stylianos Kolovos, Thomas Strauven and Stefan Bostandjiev and both Alex Powell and Ean Eyckmans were given a reprimand.
