On March 31st and April 1st, pre-season testing for the GB4 Championship took place at Oulton Park, providing valuable insights to teams about drivers performance ahead of the season opener at Silverstone on 25/26th April.

Both days of pre-season testing at Oulton Park consisted of four sessions as opposed to the three sessions at Silverstone. So what happened in the first day
Day 1
The first day of pre-season testing for the GB4 Championship saw Luke Hilton topping the time charts for the combined classification with a time of 1:34.657, putting him in front of Fred Green, Alex O’Grady, Enzo Hallman and Matan Achituv who made up the top five.
The majority of the drivers recorded their fastest lap in the fourth session of the day, however O’Grady, Willis, Davies, Miall, and Byrne recorded their quickest times in the second session. The third session saw the quickest laps from Del Grosso, Coulthard, Martin, McDaniel and Rujugiro. In the combined classification, there was less than six-tenths of a second separating the top 8 drivers.
Based on the top ten from the combined classification for day one, it seems that Fortec Motorsports and Elite Motorsport have been the most consistent teams during testing at Oulton Park so far. Furthermore, the most consistent performance amongst the 28 drivers who competed in pre-season testing has been from Luke Hilton and Fred Green.
Day 2
The second day of pre-season testing saw four of the same drivers from the first day of testing in the top five - Green, Hallman, O’Grady and Hilton. Fred Green set his fastest lap of the day during the third session with a 1:34.45. The majority of drivers completed their fastest lap during the second session of the day other than Green, Ingram Hill, O’Grady, Achituv, Miall and Koh who recorded their quickest times in the third session. Hallman, Willis, Nolan, Leverton and McDaniel recorded their fastest lap in the fourth session of the day.
Green was asked by his team - Elite Motorsport - on their social media how he sums up the pre-season he has had so far to which he responded, “Myself and the team have worked hard to try and improve the car we already have which is obviously very competitive. I’m learning everyday and improving and we’ve topped plenty of sessions so I can’t complain.”
Based on the combined classification, there was only a gap of 0.350s separating the top 6 drivers which shows us just about how close the battles will be at the front of the field. The second day of pre-season testing saw Ingram Hill jump back up to second place in the combined classification after finishing in eighth place on the first day.
Overall, GB4 pre-season testing at Oulton Park showed strong performances from Fred Green and Luke Hilton and consistent performance from Fortec Motorsports and Elite Motorsport. Day 1 of testing saw twenty-eight cars on track, whereas Day 2 saw twenty-seven.
With the next official pre-season tests for the GB4 Championship continuing at Brands Hatch on April 7th, which driver will top the timesheet?
