Márquez Dominates in Germany: MotoGP recap

Marc Márquez returned to the top step after a disappointing weekend at the TT Assen, converting the pole position into a victory at the Sachsenring in Germany. While Marc rode calmly at the front, the battle behind him was filled with crashes and a lot of action.

Márquez Takes Control At The Front
When the light went out, Márquez managed to stay in the lead into turn 1 keeping his brother Álex Márquez behind him. Fabio Di Giannantonio kept third place into Turn 1, while Ai Ogura got a good start and moved up into the leading group. Once Márquez was in the clean air he started to settle into a strong and comfortable rhythm, gradually extending his lead.
Crashed Shook Up The Standings
The standings got shaken up when Alex Márquez crashed out while chasing his brother for the lead. A few laps later Fabio Di Giannantonio also found the gravel, ending another opportunity for a good result. With Alex and Fabio out of the race, promoted Ai Ogura into second place and Raúl Fernández got into third place, giving Trackhouse Racing another podium with their two riders.

Trackhouse Got another double podium
With two retirements in front of the Trackhouse riders. meant that Ai Ogura who started fifth for the grand prix could focus on bringing home another podium finish for Trackhouse racing. The Japanese rider rode his race like any other, first putting the focus on saving his tires and then attacking later on in the race when everybody else's tires were worn out. He finished the race in second place, making it his third consecutive Motogp podium. His teammate Raúl Fernández finished the race in third place after keeping the chasing riders behind him during the last few laps.

Looking Ahead
After this weekend at the Sachsenring which was packed full of action, the riders can finally enjoy a well deserved summer break to recover from any injuries and to fully recharge before the second half of the season kicks off at Silverstone on the 7th of August.
