Not only is Sano a pole sitter for the first time in Europe, he’s now a race winner at the Hungaroring!

It is Yuki Sano that will start Race 1 on pole having Reza Seeworuthun alongside him on the front row. Andrea Dupe stalled on the formation lap however did manage to get going just before the race start. Lights go green it was Sano who had a great launch off the line. Al Dhaheri made a move into second.
Marcus Saeter ran wide into the grass and back onto track. Further back down the grid, there were many cars going side by side. Race control noted car no 11, Francisco Macedo for a false start. Wheel to wheel between Macedo and Zhenrui Chi but Macedo couldn’t get through.
A 5 second penalty was coming for Macedo following the false start. Back at the front of the grid it was now a one second gap between Sano and Al-Dhaheri. A lock-up further down the grid from Sebastian Wheldon who goes spinning across the track and comes to a halt on the grass before safely rejoining the track at the back to the grid. Race control noted the incident between Giovanni Maschio and Matteo Giaccardi.

What a race to the chequered flag as Yuki Sano takes his first race win. Al-Dhaheri takes second place with Reza Seewooruthun behind him.
