The Indian Grand Prix

The Indian F1 Circuit, the Buddh International Circuit, was introduced in the Formula 1 calendar in 2011. It is located in Greater Noida, India, and has since hosted 3 Grand Prix, in 2011, 2012 & 2013, before being removed from the calendar due to financial troubles.

The Indian Grand Prix is one of the most historic and memorable races, especially in India, for Red Bull fans. The 3 years it was hosted, it was won by the same single driver from the same team, and that is Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull, the four-time World Champion in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Vettel not only dominated the Indian Race Track but also made it iconic for Red Bull and himself.

The Buddh International Circuit is a 5.125km clockwise track with 16 corners, with its main straight being over 1km long, creating it one of the best overtaking zones in F1. It is a mix of fast sweeping corners and tight turns that tests the car's grip and requires both speed and precision. Designed by the famous F1 circuits architect and engineer, Hermann Tilke, it was inspired by classic tracks like Spa.

Formula 1 organised the Indian Grand Prix 3 times, as mentioned earlier. Drivers like Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Felipe Massa, Daniel Ricciardo, Barrichello, Maldonado, Grosjean, Hülkenberg, Bottas, and more had the opportunity to race on the iconic circuit, while Sebastian Vettel absolutely dominated the circuit for 3 years in a row.

Along with Vettel, other drivers who got on the podium in India were Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso in 2011, Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber in 2012, and Nico Rosberg and Romain Grosjean in 2013. This showed Red Bull's dominance in the V8 Engine Era with high-revving engines and much simpler hybrid systems than now, like KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).

These wins by Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull helped Sebastian Vettel win the championship during the latter years, especially his 2013 championship, where he consecutively won the championship for the 4th time. He combined flawless qualifying pace and race execution, leaving room for little to no competition.

Only a few drivers have been able to dominate a circuit for this long, and Vettel is one of them, defining his and Red Bull's legacy at the Buddh International Circuit as well as in the country.
