The street track first joined the calendar in 2023 and has since left its mark. The track is 2.933km long and consists of 11 turns. Each race consists of 35 laps. Since joining the calendar in 2023, the track has held 3 races, with Mitch Evans winning 2 and taking the title of the most successful driver around the track. From this, Jaguar has become the most successful constructor with 2 wins. It has a race lap record of 1:12.219 set by David Beckmann.

Last season, Pascal Wehrlein took pole with a lap time of 1:09:851, and then went on to immediately be overtaken by Oliver Rowland who led for the majority of the race. Midway through, the race began to heat up a bit with Rowland and Félix da Costa fiercely fighting for the win. Mitch Evans came through to lead from lap 29 onwards. After 35 laps, Mitch Evans emerged victorious, winning by +0.384 seconds. Antonio Félix Da Costa followed in 2nd, with the podium being completed by Taylor Barnard.

What to watch out for?

With many changes and new faces this season, there is a lot to watch. Rookie Pepe Martí will be making his debut, fans having only seen him during testing. It will be interesting to see how he performs. Without McLaren Neom, Taylor Barnard has made the switch to DS Penske. This will be the first time we see him at another team, making it something else to watch out for. The reigning World Champion is continuing with Nissan. Will he make it two in a row or will someone come to take his title away?

With how close the grid has always been, we can expect close, action packed and hard racing. With it being the opening round, it is all to play for. Expect the unexpected.
