F3 Extends Finale Weekend With a Test Session

This year, a new venue for motorsport will be introduced in Madrid, called the Madring. However for the FIA Formula 3 Championship, a few changes have been made for them.
The FIA recently announced that there would be an additional official in-season test from the 24-25 of August just two weeks before the season's end. The test has been placed to provide an opportunity to check over the circuit’s operational and safety procedures under real track conditions.
The Formula 3 season finale is set to be completed on the 11-13 September 2026 but for this weekend only, the FIA have decided to put in an additional feature race to complete the number of events that were originally planned for this year. This is due to the cancellation of what was meant to be Round 2 of the championship in Bahrain, which was cancelled because of conflict within the Middle East region.
The new weekend schedule will still consist of the Free Practice, Qualifying, Sprint, Feature Race format with a slight twist.
On Friday, the drivers will complete a 45 minute Free Practice session. But later on in the day, they will complete 2 qualifying sessions with them being 20 minutes long each. Saturday will involve the Sprint Race and the first Feature Race. The first Feature Race grid will be the results from the first Qualifying session with the Sprint being the same but the Top 10 reversed like normal. And then on Sunday, the second Feature Race grid will be based on the results from the second round of Qualifying.
The points distribution will stay the same with the Top 10 gaining points with 1st place in the Sprint gaining 10 points, and then 1st place in the feature races gaining 25 points.
